Obituary for Joseph Malcolm James Morrison, “Jim”

Joseph Malcolm James
“Jim” Morrison
June 17, 1939 – April 29, 2016

Jim passed away peacefully at home. He will be deeply missed by his children Colin (Laura), Janice, Susan (Vince) and Brian and grandchildren Malcolm, Robin, Christina and Salvatore. Jim will also be dearly missed by his sister Lillian (Terry) and brother Alex (Judy) and many nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Ruth (nee Eckford) and daughter Julie Ann, parents Malcolm and Mary, sisters Edna, Margaret, Jean, Mary and brother John.

Jim was a son of the East Kootenays. He spent many years building homes, schools and arenas in Kimberley, Invermere and everywhere in between. He began his career as a journeyman carpenter with FabCo, then continued as an independent contractor. He later became Chief Building Inspector for the Regional District of the East Kootenays — a position he held for 28 years. He loved hunting, fishing, camping and driving through the Kootenays in search of huckleberries. He also loved golfing, bridge and growing tomatoes in his greenhouse.

All are welcome to attend a Celebration of Jim’s Life at McPherson Funeral Home, 1885 – Warren Avenue, Kimberley, BC on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Kimberley Special Care Home, 386 – 2nd Avenue, Kimberley, BC, VIA 2Z8 will be deeply appreciated.
