Obituary for Audrey Isabel Bleaney

Audrey Isabel Bleaney

(nee Kellock)
May 18, 1931 – February 22, 2017

Audrey passed away peacefully surrounded by her family in Cranbrook, BC. She was born in New Westminster, BC, where she lived and trained as a registered nurse at St Paul’s Hospital. Audrey married the love of her life, Claude Bleaney, on May 2, 1953. Claude and Audrey started their married life in Trail, BC where they had their first son and then lived in the Salmo area where they were blessed with two more children. They lived in Port McNeill and Elkford before Claude retired in 1988 and they moved to Cranbrook. Audrey was a very active volunteer in our community, helping out at the United Church, Cranbrook Tourist Booth, and the Hospital Auxiliary. Audrey liked to stay active and many fun filled hours were spent with friends hiking, golfing, curling, and walking with the Hearts in Motion group. She was always ready for a laugh and brought joy to everyone she met.

Audrey is survived by her husband of 63 years, Claude; children Jim (Sharon), Jeff, and Lori (Dennis); grandchildren Kyle, Dan (Tamara), Jeff, Nicole, and Kayla; and the cutest great-granddaughter Eva. She is also survived by her brother Ted (Carol); sister Barb (Norm); and nephews and nieces.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Lenz and staff on the 3rd Floor at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook for their excellent care of Audrey.

A celebration of Audrey’s wonderful life will be held on Saturday, March 4th, 2017 at 10:00 am at the Cranbrook United Church. In lieu of flowers donations to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada, Tom Baker Cancer Centre, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC & Yukon would be gratefully appreciated.
