Columbia Valley Tour of the Arts back for seventh run

Sunday, August 3 is going to be an awesome day for the arts in the Columbia Valley.

Musicfest-leadAlong with the 2014 Invermere MusicFest taking place on the Pynelogs Cultural Centre grounds overlooking Lake Windermere, the seventh annual Columbia Valley Tour of the Arts is taking place at the historic CPR Lodge at Kinsmen Beach.

All Tour Participants will purchase a program for $10 that will include a map to the venue, suggested parking areas, and biographies of the artists. At the entrance to the tour, participants must hand in the grand prize entry page from their program and will have their hands stamped to allow re-entry if required. The grand prize this year is a work generously donated by local wood artist Anders Oseychuk.

Programs will be available at Pynelogs Cultural Centre in Invermere, Higher Grounds in Radium, La Galleria in Fairmont, and at the Invermere Farmers Market.

Providing a delightful soundtrack to the day will be the 10-hour Invermere Musicfest. Gates open at 12:30 p.m. and nine musical acts will perform until 11 p.m.

The festival line-up includes headliner, The Boom Booms, a Vancouver-based band that will entice you get up and dance, connecting with all ages. Also featuring, the Harpoonist & Axe Murderer, armed with a sack of harmonicas, a mess of foot percussion and decades-deep of blues, soul and funk.

To round out the full music experience is Kelly Lee Evans, a beautiful and talented jazz singer that focuses on soul and hip-hop. Four more B.C. based bands will complete the 2014 Fest line-up.

Arrowhead Brewery & Tinhorn Creek Wines will be offered at the Fest Refreshment Garden, as well as an International Food & Artist Village to satisfy your bellies and creative-side. There will be plenty of space to spread out blankets and festival chairs with several bleachers strategically placed throughout the festival grounds.
