Dedication evident
By Chris Newel
On Thursday Nov. 6, the Selkirk Senior Secondary School band and choir performed at Kimberley’s McKim Theatre.
Sven Heyde, music director, made particular mention of his search for an anvil in order to produce just the right sound in the Pirates of the Caribbean theme song. Emma Macleod took great pleasure in striking the anvil with a mallet to achieve the effect. Both the band and choir have over 30 students who practice alternate mornings at 7:30 a.m.
Their dedication and commitment to the program was very evident during the show.
