Firefighters scooping trees for Fernie Pets Society

This Saturday, January 9 at 8 a.m., Fernie firefighters will begin driving around town doing a curb-side pick up of everyone’s Christmas trees.

Fernie on fireYou can also drop off your tree personally at the Fernie Aquatic Centre on the 9th at a designated area where a volunteer will help you out.

Then later in the afternoon at the Aquatic Centre, from 4 to 9 p.m., local firefighters will set blaze to the town’s used Christmas trees in order to create a controlled bonfire to light up the toboggan hill for you to enjoy!

There will be music, street hockey, a barbecue, hot chocolate and raffles prizes from some very generous local businesses.

All proceeds will be donated to The Fernie Pets Society for the construction of the Off Leash Dog Park at the base of Ridgemont Avenue just past the Bottle Depot.
