Fred Penner headlining Children’s Festival

Canadian icon Fred Penner was set to perform on the Key City Theatre stage at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 7 during the Kootenay Children’s Festival. Free tickets were snapped up so quickly that many families were going to be disappointed.

In true Cranbrook fashion, Children’s Festival organizers and Key City Theatre manager Galen Olstead moved quickly to obtain an outdoor stage.

Now everyone attending the Festival can dance and sing along with Fred’s classics like ‘The Cat Came Back’ and ‘Sandwiches.’

CBC Searchlight finalist Dawson Rutledge will warm up the crowd from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Fred Penner will perform from 1 to 2 p.m. and an additional performer will follow to round out the day.

The weather forecast is calling for sunny skies so make plans to bring the whole family down for a wonderful day at the Kootenay Children’s Festival.
