January at Fernie Heritage Library

The following is a rundown on what is taking place at Fernie Heritage Library in January.

Babies, Preschoolers and Caregivers Storytime (ages 3-5 years)

Tuesdays 11:15 a.m.-noon; Stories, singing and activities for preschoolers and their families.

Toddlertime (ages 0-2 years)

Wednesday 11:15 a.m. at the library Fridays: 11:15 a.m. NEW**

Singing, simple stories and fingerplays for babies and their families.

Children’s Activities for Grades 1-6

Tuesdays 3:30-4:45 p.m.: Knits and Knots; age eight plus. This is a drop in knit, crochet and yarn craft club.

Wednesdays 3:30-4:45 p.m.: Paper, Rock, Scissors; age 10 plus. Session 1 January 7-Feb 18: Ultimate Paper Airplane builders. Let’s build the most amazing airplanes we can; each week we will try a new challenge.

Thursdays 3:30-4:45 p.m.:  Lego Club (age seven plus)  (Jan 8-Feb 19) **registration required.

Lego Club is back on a new day. Your child can be registered by emailing your child’s name and date of birth to [email protected]. A confirmation email will be sent to you when your child has been given a spot. Registration for this club is on a first come, first served basis. Please consider that if your child has already been in this club several times over the fall months, allowing another child to have a chance to attend.

Fridays 12:15-1:30 p.m.  Lunch Bag Club (Ages seven plus). This drop-in club will be a potluck of fun events, with some elements of crafting, building, exploring and lego.

Red Cedar Book Club (grade 4-6)

January 29, 6:30-7:30 p.m. Game Board Version. Create a board game of your favourite Red Cedar Book and characters. New members always welcome.

SKIP (Seniors and Kids Intergenerational Programs)

January 14 , 2-2:45 p.m. Senior Story time at Rocky Mountain Village. Songs and stories for old and young. All are Welcome.

January  21, 1:30-2:30 p.m.: Senior Story time at Tom Uphill Manor. Songs and stories for old and young. All are Welcome.

Special Events

January 22: Elk Valley Hospice Launch: Hospice Library Resource: help for the dying and grieving. 7 p.m.

January 27: Story Feast : Family Literacy Day programming all day for all ages.

January 31: BOOKED! Fernie Writers’ Event: Amber Dawn, Poet. 7 p.m. Local music by The Relief Committee. Cash bar.
