Jesse Plessis returns to the valley

Sparwood-born and raised pianist Jesse Plessis returns to his home stomping grounds Saturday, Jan. 31, for a concert.

Jesse Plessis performs in Fernie Jan. 31.

“Jesse is a perennial favourite with the people of Fernie and Sparwood,” commented organizer Sylvia Elias. “He plays with such depth, from a place that few pianists who are not yet 30 have found.”

Hosted by the 88 Keys Grand Piano Society of Fernie, Plessis will perform at 7 p.m. at Mountainside Church, home of the community-owned grand piano. Comfortable seats, excellent acoustics, and a high-calibre piano add to the pleasure of an evening out.

“Jesse loves to communicate with the audience during his shows,” adds Elias. “He is articulate and funny, always sharing an interesting story about life as a pianist, or about the works he plays. And he claims to have had a crater on Mars named after him,” she laughs.

Is it true? Find out on Saturday night at the concert. Tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for seniors and youths; children admitted free of charge. Refreshments will be served at intermission.

Mountainside Church is located at 1622 Tenth Avenue in Fernie, across the highway from Tim Horton’s.
