One Steamboat, two Steamboat, three Steamboat, four

By Christine Shaw

The fourth incarnation of the Steamboat Mountain Music Festival was held last weekend in Edgewater at the elementary school grounds, and the team of volunteers and event staff were energetic and positive despite some challenges from Mother Nature.

Everyone was smiling and friendly regardless of the wind and rain, and the atmosphere was one of peaceful appreciation for a wide range of music.

The two-day festival highlights a great variety of local talent as well as acts from Calgary and other locales, and the intimacy of the stage definitely makes the crowd a part of the action.

This is very much a family friendly event, including the four-legged furry members, so people should feel encouraged to grab some lawn chairs and make a day of it. There is a silent auction draw that includes an acoustic Yamaha guitar, as well as some delicious bakery treats and hot barbecue items available.

The view of the Columbia River Wetlands was spectacular from the event grounds, and Steamboat Mountain stands as a grand witness to the fun and frivolity of the festival as well.

The event organizers are looking forward to showcasing more local talent to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the festival next year, and based on the commitment and heart of those involved, we are sure the success will continue going forward.
