Bringing a treasure box full of magic and comedy for the whole family, the Purple Pirate is certain to create a memorable adventure that will be told for years to come!

ThePurplePirate“Children love pirates and through my character the Purple Pirate, I have the opportunity to inspire children about the fun and adventure of exploring new cultures, making friends, and saying no to bullying,” says Anderson.

His career spans two and half decades of performing for audiences around the globe. From small events in the Lower Mainland to the outback of Australia, for the peoples of the Mediterranean, and even for a live television audience of more than two million viewers in China. The Purple Pirate treasure box is full of performing experience!

His latest work – Message in a Bottle – is an innovative theatre-style dance production that re-defines what it means to be a Pirate of the 21st Century promoting friendship and forgiveness. Message in a Bottle – 1 p.m.
Message in a Bottle is a story of transformation as Dustin learns what it means to be a Pirate of the 21st Century, discovering the values of courage, compassion, and curiosity. Join the Purple Pirate as he discovers his passion for dancing while on a magical journey to the East. A place where the laws of physics are suspended, objects magically appear, and the ordinary becomes extraordinary.

With increasing incidents of bullying on school grounds and in cyberspace, Theatre Artist and Children’s Performer, Dustin Anderson offers a new spin on the cycling of bullying and how to break it. With the rise of media attention on the bullying phenomena, Dustin’s tale of transformation is based on his own personal story of growing up with an alcoholic parent, becoming a bully, and reforming his behaviour through friendship and forgiveness.
“Bullies are demonized and misunderstood and it is through my work that I hope to humanize the face of the bully and create understanding that most bullies are victims of abuse, trauma, or neglect,” says Anderson.

Message in a Bottle, Anderson’s latest theatrical show, is a pirate story that uses technology, magic, and dance, along with a mesmerizing soundscape, to relay the message to elementary school-aged children. Anderson is hopeful that this show will inspire discussion in families, schools and in the community about the power of friendship and forgiveness

The Purple Pirate Magic & Mayhem Show at 1 p.m. is guaranteed to be an afternoon of laughter and illusion for children of all ages.

The first show at 11 a.m. is for pre-school aged children.
