Santa Claus is coming to town!

The 44th annual Santa Claus Parade is planned for Friday, November 28, at 7 p.m. in downtown Cranbrook.

JCI Kootenay is once again planning the event to coincide with the Downtown Cranbrook holiday light-up. Parade assembly will begin at 6 p.m. near Mt. Baker Secondary School and will begin its procession along Baker Street at 7 p.m. sharp.

SCP22Headline sponsors this year include Denham Ford and The Bedroom Furniture Galleries. Net proceeds of the event will go to the Cranbrook Food Bank.

This year’s parade theme is ‘Winter Rides.’ JCI Kootenay encourages parade participants to be creative in designing parade floats that display the unique opportunities that snow and ice provide in helping us get around and be active in the winter.

In keeping with the festive spirit, everyone is encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item, or a cash donation for the Cranbrook Food Bank. Drop off boxes will be available at businesses on Baker Street.

In the days leading up to the parade, both Denham Ford and The Bedroom Furniture Galleries will have drop boxes available for the donation of non-perishable food items.

SCP32The parade float entry deadline is Wednesday, November 26. The entry fee for the parade is by donation and the minimum donation is $75 or more for businesses and $35 or more for non-profit organizations. Credit card or cheques made payable to JCI Kootenay will be accepted. After the deadline, a late registration rate of $100 for businesses and $50 for non-profits will be applied.

Registration forms are available at The Bedroom Furniture Galleries or by emailing [email protected].

For more information on the parade, please contact Brenda by phone at 250-464-5339 or by the email address listed above.

Hot chocolate and hot cider will be served at The Bedroom Furniture Galleries and various other Downtown Cranbrook businesses. Dress warm and bring out the whole family for a fun filled night that helps kick-off the 2014 holiday season!
