Sloan plays Key City Theatre September 13

Nominated for 10 Juno Awards and 16 East Coast Music Awards, Sloan is on a cross Canada tour in support of the anniversary of their album, Twice Removed.

Voted the ‘Best Canadian Album Ever’ by Chart Magazine, Twice Removed has garnered Sloan international acclaim.

Sloan is four distinct song writing voices — guitarists Patrick Pentland and Jay Ferguson, bassist Chris Murphy and drummer Andrew Scott — that nonetheless form a cohesive collective, long-time Toronto scenesters who will always call Halifax home.

All four members of Sloan write their own songs, and when they play live they switch instruments accordingly. Usually the band performs with Murphy on lead vocals and bass, Pentland is also on lead vocals and plays lead guitar, Ferguson plays rhythm guitar, and Scott plays drums. The most notable exception is when Scott picks up the guitar to play his songs; Ferguson and Murphy switch to bass and drums, respectively.

MuchMusic and rock-radio regulars who maintain strong ties to their indie roots, SLOAN consider themselves money-city maniacs who instead of coasting on their cred, continue to challenge themselves with each record. 2011 marked the band’s twentieth year together.

SLOAN plays the Key City Theatre in Cranbrook on Thursday, September 13 at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $35 plus HST and are available at the Key City Theatre box office, or charge by phone at 250-426-7006.
