I am laughing, as I am reading Kyla Cornish’s e-KNOW introduction, as I’d like to come off as witty as she is. I’ve known Kyla for a few years and I really like her. I recently told her that I have a mom crush on her.  And while she acknowledged that it’s mutual, I’ve been unsuccessful in convincing her to come on a Hot Mom’s park date (If you don’t know about the Hot Moms, start reading now!). In any case, I consider myself more the motivational type than the humorist type, and will not try to compete with her wit.

I am, however, going to take a page out of her book and tell you a bit about whom and what I am. The first role I took on coming into this world, I am a daughter. I am a mom. I am a sister, a friend, an aunt, a businesswoman, a role model, and a mentor.  I used to be a teacher. I still pay my $80 per year to call myself a teacher… I am a television personality. I am a chef. I am dedicated. I am determined. I am selfish. I am giving. I am creative.

I am a woman.

To me, being a woman has meant taking on more roles than I ever could have imagined. It has been an honest struggle to determine which I am first.  I’ve struggled with the conflict of putting myself first, putting my kids first, or putting my career first. It never mattered what I did, life could never be simple; as there was always a new decision to be made. There was always a responsibility to be had. So I was constantly on the search for something that would make me happy. What I eventually discovered was food.

Food is the catalyst to my happiness: creating it, eating it, and sharing it. To me, food is an art, appreciated by everyone. In one form or another, food is something we all have in common. When I discovered my passion for culinary world, I found happiness and opportunity. I started to feel like a stronger woman. It is for this reason that I started my blog ‘Taste Life’. I wanted to inspire others with my cooking, the way I have been inspired by others in the culinary industry.

My blog is about cooking and the experiences I have had as a woman in the culinary industry. It’s about my experience on MasterChef Canada. It’s about the chefs that I have met, the kitchens that I have worked in, the food that I have tasted, and the equipment that I have used. It’s about sharing recipes, ideas, and photos. It’s about helpful tips that are going to make your dining life easier and more affordable. It’s simply about sharing my passion.

I am very excited to be a part of the e-KNOW writing team! Through e-KNOW, I welcome you to join my journey from amateur home cook to wherever this crazy journey is about to take me. That’s the best part of it all. I have no idea where it is going, but I can promise you it’s somewhere great. I hope that you’ll follow, you’ll read, and you’ll become inspired!
