The Tea Party tonight at Key City

Canadian rock trio The Tea Party is coming to Cranbrook to promote the release of their first studio album in 10 years, The Ocean at the End.

The Tea Party’s original lineup of Jeff Martin (vocals, guitars), Stuart Chatwood (bass, keyboards) and Jeff Burrows (drums, percussion) will be at the Key City Theatre on Monday, December 8.

Formed in 1990, the Windsor, Ontario-based band released seven studio albums before parting ways in 2005. They reunited for a limited summer tour in 2011, during which they decided to keep the band together for good. Over the next few years they worked together to write and record new material, leading up to the September 2014 release of The Ocean at the End.

The Tea Party is known for their international influences and diverse instrumentation, and the new album is no exception. As a review on 100% Rock Magazine points out, “Between them, the threesome are credited with some 27 instruments which ensure that alongside the mighty, meaty riffs and driving drums TOATE features a never-ending cornucopia of new and interesting sounds to excite the ears.”

Anxious to share the new album with fans across the country, The Tea Party is currently a cross-Canada tour from Halifax to Vancouver. For the western leg of their tour, including the Cranbrook concert, they’ll have Vancouver rockers Pigeon Park opening for them.

Tickets to see The Tea Party on Monday, December 8 at Key City Theatre are $42.50, available at the theatre box office and online at www.keycitytheatre.com.
