Wapiti weekend pass sale ends July 31Posted: July 14, 2012

The 2012 Wapiti Music Festival is only one month away. Summer has kicked off in Fernie and preparations are underway.

Weekend passes are on sale at the Advance Price of $45 until July 31.

As of August 1, weekend passes are full price at $60. Tickets are limited this year so get yours early. Day pricing will be available. Children under 12 and adults over 65 are free! Purchase tickets online or downtown Fernie at Le Grand Fromage.

New to Wapiti this year is the expanded refreshment garden featuring local wine producers and even a boutique cidery from B.C.’s Okanagan. Fernie Brewing Company is back as well for another successful weekend.

Creston’s Baillie-Grohman Estate Winery will feature their Gewurztraminer and rose. The 2011 Blanc De Noirs rose captures the perfect balance of acidity with its watermelon and cranberry notes. Both make a perfect complement to the hot summer sun over the Wapiti grounds. Sip a perfect summer red wine titled Summer Night from Gehringer Bros. in Osooyoos.

New to Fernie, try the Orchard Hill Estate Cidery from the South Okanagan. Light semi-sweet, fruity Okanagan apple cider.

Wapiti also welcomes a new MC, Alya Ramadan from CBC Radio One’s Daybreak.

The 2012 Wapiti Friday and Saturday evening lineups are filled and full of pure awesome Canadian Indie entertainment.

Friday you will dance into a vibrant pink sunset with Vancouver’s Latin heroes The Boom Booms. Saturday’s festival-goers will experience the retro sound of Michael Rault, the clean new sounds of The Belle Game, hear raw rock and roll from Cuff the Duke. The day makes its way to the headliners Born Ruffians. Rock, sing along, clap, dance and feel the festival love. Cap the night off with an all out Fernie dance party, Five Alarm Funk will infect your feet with dancing magic. Much, much more to see! Great fun for all ages.
Wapiti Music Festival takes place in Fernie, on August 10 and 11.
