Weather Permitting Comedy Tour Panorama bound

Three ‘people of comedy’ stuck inside a small car, driving all over Canada’s happy half acre on a winter tour.

Sounds like a hell of a good sit-com, or the beginning of a joke.

But it is the Weather Permitting Comedy Tour and it will be rolling into the Columbia Valley Wednesday, Dec. 17 – weather permitting, of course.

Michelle Christine, Andrew Barr and Michael Flamank begin their tour Nov. 12 in Timmins, Ont. Have you been to Timmins? In November? There should be laughs a-plenty, he said with a deadpan overtone.

From there, the poor bastards skid, moose-weave and white knuckle it through Northwest Ontario, before rolling into Winnipeg, Nov. 20.

Now imagine what kind of tales they will tell by the time they perform at Panorama Mountain Village’s Great Hall Dec. 17?

They will entertain 19 audiences, weather permitting, at locales across the prairies, after having fled Northwest Ontario (motto: Canada’s Longest Semi-trailer Convoys), to the Pacific Coast and back to the Rockies between Nov. 21 and Dec. 17.

Enough to grind the hardiest of road warriors into a froth and a guarantee of comic madness.

So who are these comics of the Canadian winter road?

WP DoesNotContainRealFruitJuiceStand-Up comedy started out as an occasional mistress, and has blossomed into a full-blown marriage for Michelle Christine.

She has performed at Second City, was in the Rising Star contest for the Brantford Comedy Festival and the quarter finals for Sirius XM’s search for Canada’s next top comic. She made it into the semi-finals of the Border City Comedy Festival, and is ready to take her act on the road. And she has appeared on MTV and in the NXNE Festival.

Her blend of storytelling is high energy and personal, and leaves you wanting more. Michelle produces comedy specials at the Comedy Bar, under the “Let’s Laugh” series. Her journey through stand-up can be found on michellechristine.com.

WP LookAtBackForNiftyRecipesAndrew Barr is a fast-rising Canadian comic known for his eclectic brand of humor and stage persona often described as “so dry it would make for good kindling.”

From snappy one-liners to thorough recounts from his life, he explores all avenues of comedy, everything tied together with unyielding logic.

A featured performer in North By Northeast 2013 and 2014, Andrew has also showcased for Sirius XM and recently brought his comedic stylings to television, appearing on iChannel and MTV. Writing bios makes him feel uncomfortable and braggy, but he did it, just for YOU!

WP ServingSize1-4There are doers, there are don’ters and there are people who find that those two words look incredibly weird when actually typed out. Michael Flamank’s the third guy. The one who shoots first and reexamines his decisions later. Because asking questions isn’t what got him into multiple publications across the country, impersonating a teen pop sensation to kill an evening did. Asking questions isn’t what got him an audience with George Clooney and Ryan Gosling, irresponsibly left-unlocked doors at The Ritz Carlton did. And asking questions sure as hell didn’t cause many of his romantic relationships to fail, it was not asking them in the name of comedy that totally did!

Michael has worked with arguably the best stand up comedians working today in this country on his acclaimed show Comical in Toronto. He’s also co-headlined two wildly successful cross-Canada tours: ‘The Sleeping in Our Car Tour’ and ‘The Sleeping in Our Car 2’er.’ He is pretty hyped to be back on the road again.

This comic trio will bring laughs to the valley Wednesday, Dec. 17.
