Baker Street Café: new name and owners

Chris and Crystal met and fell in love in Calgary, Alberta. The compassionate couple worked in social services for a few years in Calgary, supporting individuals in difficult situations.

The social service sector started to pull heavy on their heartstrings and some much-needed respite was necessary. The fresh mountain air and exquisite views of the East Kootenay beckoned.

They made a five-year plan to save for and open a café business in the East Kootenay, and an exciting opportunity happened that week in Cranbrook. Chris and Crystal pursued it. It took a few months for dreams to come true, but nowhere near the five-year plan that was made!

Now they are here in the place dreams are made of, running a mom and pop café in downtown Cranbrook. Serving freshly prepared breakfasts, salads, sandwiches and soup.

Chris was born and raised in Yorkshire, England where he trained as a chef. His passion for people and food shines through in every bite at the Baker Street Café.

Be sure to try his Full English breakfast. Available Mon-Fri from 8 -11 a.m., and during the Saturday Hangover Breakfast from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

The café is located where Redneck Café used to be on Baker Street in downtown Cranbrook.

The Baker Street Café is hosting an official Grand Opening on Tuesday, March 31. Join them for fun and freebies!
