Golf tournament cancelled; Kootenay Savings support continues

A difficult decision by East Kootenay Foundation for Health and Kootenay Savings to cancel the fifth annual Celebrating Health Care Golf Tournament has now turned into an exciting opportunity.

The charity golf tournament was to support the ‘A Clear View ~ digital stereotactic mammography campaign’ for the East Kootenay Regional Hospital.  Although golf is no longer an option, Kootenay Savings will continue to support the fundraising effort by moving their financial support ($15,000) to the return of the ‘Clearly
a Breast Friends’ Bash,’ organized by Invermere’s Sheila Tutty – one of the Faces of the ‘A Clear View campaign’ (pictured above).

Held in March of this year, the original ‘Clearly
a Breast Friends’ Bash’ raised just over $17,000 for the campaign spearheaded by East Kootenay Foundation for Health.   Kootenay Savings support for a fall celebration event  and continued support of healthcare takes on extra special meaning this year, as a number of Kootenay Savings employees have fought, or are currently fighting, breast cancer.

“Seeing the commitment the East Kootenay Foundation for Health and the health care auxiliaries have to improving regional healthcare, as well as the integral role our passionate employees and directors in the East Kootenays played in fundraising for the Invermere Hospital, it was a natural fit for us to lend our support to the Clear View campaign and the upcoming celebration,” shared Kootenay Savings President & CEO, Brent Tremblay.

Support from many sponsors who originally contributed to the golf tournament has been tremendous for both the Clearly
a Breast Friends’ Bash and the A Clear View ~ digital mammography campaign.

The Saturday, October 27 event will once again take place at the wonderful Black Forest Restaurant and feature models, all of whom are breast cancer survivors, showcasing fashions from some of Invermere’s finest retailers.  The Windermere Health Care Auxiliary will also be on hand offering a 50/50 draw with proceeds going to the Invermere Hospital Palliative Care Unit.

There will be door prizes, laughter, some speeches and the chance to join Kootenay Savings and other supporters in celebrating health care and the drive to bring the best in breast cancer imaging to the region.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m., three-course dinner at 6:30 p.m. and the fashion show at 7:30 pm. Tickets will be ready in early September and available at the Invermere and Radium branches of Kootenay Savings.

Kootenay Savings, over the past four years of the Celebrating Health Care Golf Tournament, has helped raise over $88,000 towards the Invermere District Hospital emergency and pediatric departments!  Now, working together with the ‘Clearly
a Breast Friends’ Bash’, they continue to take a regional approach to help bring leading-edge technology in breast cancer care to the East Kootenay Regional Hospital.
