Park on Us even better for businesses this year
Twelve years ago resourceful United Way staff began the Park on Us Campaign.
The goal was to connect with businesses and community in a fun, win-win way. The Campaign has grown from that first year with 95 parking meters sold to 2013 with 432 sold meters to this year with meter sales currently at 410. We anticipate this year’s sales to surpass last year’s.
This year in response to a number of business requests to have logos on the meter signs over the years, Wolfpack Signs & Printing has designed a 12 by 16 inch sign accommodating the business name and logo.
These new signs will hang on one-meter pole signifying sales of 10, 20, 30 and 40 parking meters. This will free up meters for increased sales, a good thing! If Fredrick Hislop, our Event Coordinator, or the office has missed you and you want in, contact the office to reserve your parking meters.
Many generous businesses have also donated items for the ever-popular Silent Auction. This is the second year for the Park on Us auction with items ranging from gift certificates, barbeque supplies, granite lazy-Susan, camping supplies and so much more over 75 items.
Mark Friday, September 19 on your calendar and plan to come down and join in the fun.
The M&M Barbeque and Silent Auction will be at the United Way office location – 930 Baker Street starting at 11 a.m. The morning starts at 7 a.m. with coffee and morning snack by donation.
Unise, our ‘piggy bank,’ will be standing by collecting donations.
