Valley’s most prestigious ‘phantom’ event returns

The golf course isn’t booked and the players don’t show, but the money raised by the Phantom Celebrating Health Care Golf tournament, brought to you by Kootenay Savings and the East Kootenay Foundation for Health, is the only event in town where you can be a “no-show” and still make a real difference.

PhantomLast year the charitable campaign, billed as a “phantom” golf tournament, saw generous individuals and business from throughout the Columbia Valley donate over $6,000, which was then matched dollar for dollar by Kootenay Savings, bringing the overall total raised to $13,502. The funds were then used to help purchase a single CR reader for the Diagnostic Imaging Department at the Invermere & District Hospital.

Signature sponsor Kootenay Savings was so pleased with the success of the inaugural campaign that a second year of “Phantom” sponsorship is in place for 2014. And new this year, all donors will be entered into a prize draw for the chance to win a $500 Kootenay Savings term deposit.

“The phantom golf tournament is a simple and unique way for donors to show their support for the Invermere & District Hospital and the EKFH. Kootenay Savings is excited to be part of year two and will once again be matching every donation made from September 1 through to October 31,” explains Kootenay Savings Community Liaison, Aron Burke. “The great part about a campaign like this is that because there is no actual event, each and every dollar raised goes directly towards buying new equipment for the hospital.”

Donations can be made online at www.ekfh.ca, mailed to EKFH at 13 24th Ave N, Cranbrook, BC V1C 3H9 (payable to East Kootenay Foundation for Health) or at Kootenay Savings Invermere and Radium Hot Springs branches.
