** A Safe Communities Cranbrook Falls Prevention Awareness Event
NOVEMBER IS FALL PREVENTION MONTH!
Falls Prevention Overview & Move For Life: Thu, Nov 26 @ 10:00-12:00. Wellness Room, Joseph Creek Village (right hand of the two buildings).
FALLS ARE THE MOST COMMON CAUSE OF INJURY AMONG BC SENIORS
Every 10 minutes, a senior is hospitalized for a fall.
COTR Nursing Student Yvonne Barber provides an excellent overview of falls, and four simple tips we can all embrace to reduce the risk.
Bev Wagner, COSCO facilitator and senior advocate introduces “Move for Life”, a DVD featuring seniors of all ages and abilities demonstrating physical activities. The video includes activities for viewers with limited mobility so they can stretch and move safely. It encourages older adults to add more physical activities to their daily routine in a fun and inspiring way while explaining the benefits of doing so.
This is a free event, hosted by Safe Communities Cranbrook and Joseph Creek Village.
