FALLS ARE THE MOST COMMON CAUSE OF INJURY AMONG BC SENIORS
Each year, one in three BC seniors (age 65+) experience at least one fall.
SAFE COMMUNITIES CRANBROOK is hosting the second annual Falls Awareness Campaign throughout the month of November. Local partners, volunteers and service providers are hosting activities, workshops, meetings and social gatherings to talk about falls – why they happen, why it’s important, and what we can do to reduce them.
The campaign focuses on 4 simple actions we can take to prevent falls:
- start an exercise program
- get a vision check
- reduce home trip hazards, and
- have a medication review with a pharmacist
Join committee members for an introductory talk about the campaign and the multitude of activities scheduled for the month of November. Sign up for a gym tour, a seniors yoga class, or a medication review with a pharmacist. Learn about local resources for senior and caregiver support.
