First Saturday arts & culture celebration, live music, Art Market, & art demos and workshops at Art Avenue in the Platzl 12 to 4 p.m., ā€œCod Gone Wildā€ concert, Centre 64 outdoor stage, 7 to 9 p.m.

Sunday, August 3rd

Family ā€œPicnic in the Parkā€ at Rotary Park, 12 noon to 3 p.m. with music by Old Spice & magic by ā€œThe Amazing Jeremyā€. Kidsā€™ sack races, 3-legged races, egg & spoon races, and face-painting. Food vendors on site. Free admission, donations appreciated.

Monday, August 4th

3-day textiles workshop with Angelika Werth today, Tuesday & Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Workshop fee $150 + GST. Info & register at [email protected].

ā€œThe Cromoli Brothersā€ comedy show with Lucas Myers @ Centre 64 8 p.m. Tickets $10 from Centre 64.

Tuesday, August 5th

10th annual ā€˜Arts on the Edgeā€™ exhibition opens 1 p.m; runs to August 30, Tuesdays ā€“ Saturdays, 1 ā€“ 5 p.m.

Beginnersā€™ 1-day plein air workshop with Jim Robertson, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., workshop fee $80 +GST. Info & register at [email protected].

Farmersā€™ Market on Howard Street 5 to 7.30 p.m., music in the Platzl 7.30 to 8 p.m., Vertical dance performance by Trina Rasmusen and students on outer wall of Spirit Rock Climbing Centre, 8 Ā p.m. p.m. Free admission, donations appreciated.

Friday, August 8th

Gala ā€œArts on the Edge 2014ā€ exhibition reception, prize-giving, & silent auction with music by the Don Davies Quartet, Centre 64, 7.30 to 10 p.m. Admission $10, exhibiting artists & sponsors free. Tickets from Centre 64.

Saturday, August 9th

ā€œPaint Out in the Platzlā€ plein air painting 9 a.m. to 12 noon; silent auction of paintings 1 to 4 p.m. Platzl yoga studio.
