‎Valley community reaches deep for family

Over the decades, Columbia Valley residents have reached deep into their pockets to help friends, neighbours and family during tough times.

Last Saturday (Jan. 30) showcased another example of that coming together when times are tough attitude, as Support Timmy organizers and participants raised more than $96,000 for Tim Goldie and his family during a special event and silent auction at Panorama Mountain Resort’s Great Hall.

Tim is currently battling Stage 4 Glioblastoma (brain cancer).

Along with the amazing turn out and support for the weekend event, generous donors have provided more than $60,000 to a Crowdrise donation page for the family.

“Well, what can we say but WOW!” Exclaimed fundraising organizer Monica Fisher in a Facebook post reporting the success of the Saturday event.

“Saturday’s event proved to be a huge success; overwhelming is the only word that comes to mind. Not only did a group of amazing individuals come together to have a super fun night but we also raised funds to help the Goldies in their current life journey. We have been catalysts in opening doors to options that may not have been feasible before and we have shown that we are compassionate, loving, dedicated friends and community members,” Fisher stated, adding, “None of this would have been possible without the generous monetary and item donations but also the hard work, dedication, blood, sweat and tears of our amazing volunteers.

“I have no words to express my gratitude to all of you and I know that Tim, Laura, Piper, Ashley and the rest of the family are also lost for words.  So without further ado our totals from Saturday’s event has raised a whopping $96,176.90. Putting our totals (event and online) to $156,220.90. This is a gift that will assist in providing memories, time, comfort and life to a family who has given us just the same. Thank you all so much!”

If you would like to make a donation to the family please go to Crowdrise.
