Parastone unveiled the first phase of Montane, Fernie that will consist of 20 home sites with prices starting at $138,000. Initially, the community will be comprised of up to 140 single-family homes and will include cottages, townhomes and estate properties. At full build out, the value of all homes will be more than $200 million.Ā The launch follows the success of Parastoneā€™s Fernie First campaign and the sell-out of 10 peripheral home sites.

ā€œWeā€™re excited to officially launch Montane, Fernieā€™s new, vibrant, sustainable community,ā€ says Simon Howse, general manager of Parastone and investor in Montane. ā€œThereā€™s a growing appetite for mountain living with the amenities of a city. Whatā€™s great about Montane is that it is located just a few minutes walk from Fernieā€™s historic downtown.

ā€œMontane caters to an active community. Parks and greenways will be dispersed throughout individual neighbourhoods and will be within 100 metres of every home,ā€ says Howse. ā€œWalkability is becoming increasingly important to homebuyers. Montane residents will have direct access to Fernieā€™s downtown via pedestrian walking trails and bike paths.ā€

Developed in partnership with the Fernie Trail Alliance, outdoor enthusiasts will be able to enjoy an extensive multi-use trail system that stretches into the backyard wilderness of Castle Mountain and the Morrisey Range. Fernie offers an array of outdoor activities including mountain biking, downhill and cross country skiing, hiking, fishing, boating, golfing, rafting and paddling and wildlife viewing.

Montane, Fernie has been strategically designed to create a seamless transition from the public realm of the street to the private realm of the home. Employing a ā€˜mountain modernā€™ design approach, architects envision comfortable and inviting homes with meandering driveways, trellises and garden walls and screens. West-facing home sites will enjoy longer days with maximum sun exposure and offer vistas of Mt Hosmer, The Three Sisters and The Cedar Valley.

ā€œIndividual home sites will optimize views of the spectacular mountain scenery,ā€ says Howse. ā€œWe know residents will want to take advantage of the beautiful natural surroundings, so courtyards, outdoor terraces and porches have been incorporated into the architectural vision.ā€

Plans for Montane, Fernie include setting aside 40-acres of land for agricultural and farming purposes. As part of Parastoneā€™s community-oriented vision, residents of Montane will have the opportunity to take part in maintaining the community garden. Further details about the community farm will be released in the upcoming months.

Montane, Fernie is the vision of Parastone Developments. Parastone, has a proven track record with development in Fernie, having completed 901 Fernie, a $30 million restoration of a 1908 Fernie schoolhouse transformed into an iconic building with condominium residences, vacation rentals, and spaĀ and wellness centre. Other projects include Veneto Place Properties and several residential projects throughout the Elk Valley and Cranbrook.

Fernie is recognized as an authentic mountain community, ranking as one of the Worldā€™s Top 3 Ski Towns according to National Geographic. According to Rolling Stone Magazine, Fernie is ā€œThe Coolest Town in North Americaā€ and is known to have some of the best mountain stream fishing in the Rocky Mountains.

Fernie offers all the modern amenities and services of a regional centre, including the Fernie Hospital, the College of the Rockies, an aquatic centre and skate park, as well as public and private K-12 educational facilities.
