$4.1 million Highland Crossing project launched

Urban West Projects Inc. announced today the launch of Highland Crossing, a new $4.1 million residential townhome development at the foot of main street in Invermere.

Perched on a hilltop for prime south-facing vistas and designed with pedestrian accessibility in mind, the multi-generational neighbourhood will feature seven townhomes at build-out.

“The biggest draw is the unrivalled views of Lake Windermere and the proximity to the town’s amenities. There are bakeries, galleries, restaurants and shopping, all within 300 metres,” said Larry Kerr, principal, Urban West Projects Inc. “We’re the first new multi-family development in Invermere since 2008. There are comparable communities in the Bow Valley, for example, but our weather is better, our amenities are easier to access and we’re more affordable. We have it all.”

“Lake Windermere has been a popular outdoor enthusiasts’ playground since the introduction of the Banff to Radium highway. It’s a destination for hiking, climbing, golf and watersports, and in the winter we’ve got the Whiteway ice-skating and cross-country skiing loop on the lake, the world’s longest of its kind. Panorama Mountain Resort, the host of World Cup downhill skiing and heli-skiing, is only 20 minutes away. There’s no shortage of outdoor activities here,” says Kerr. “We anticipate Highland Crossing will be popular amongst families, down-sizers and second homebuyers. It’s the ideal place to expose the kids to the outdoors and to own this as a legacy property.”

Highland Crossing is a significant indicator of the positive direction real estate is moving in the Kootenay region, a project press release noted. According to the BCREA, November 2015 Forecast (Source), housing demand will increase by nearly three per cent in 2016. The Kootenays is expected to see the same level of housing demand in 2016 as experienced in 2014.

Highland Crossing is being developed by Urban West Projects Inc. Headquartered in Vancouver and founded in 2012, Urban West Projects has a history in identifying and developing multi-family infill sites in established neighborhoods. It currently has projects in Calgary and Vancouver.

Construction is planned to begin in January 2016.
