Another crack at the yoga chain world record

Once more onto the mat yogis!

The City of Fernie will once again be the site of an attempt at a Guinness World Book of Records record this summer.

The Yoga Chain Guinness World Record Attempt will be taking place on July 12 and organizers are looking for several thousand participants.

“We are looking for participants to help us set the world record for the longest yoga chain ever. No experience is necessary; we’ll teach you what to do. We are aiming for 2,000 people, although the record as it stands today is 693 people,” notes record attempt organizers on their Facebook page.

The event, which will take place in downtown Fernie, is for all ages. “Our oldest participant last year was 95 years old! She was amazing. Kim Genovese of Essential Yoga Studio in Fernie will be teaching a ‘Yoga for Seniors 50+ class’ and a Body Positive class during the weekend. These classes are free (as are all yoga classes) – so come out join the chain and take a class – whatever age and body!” Organizers declared today on Facebook.
