Arrest made after stabbing

A 26-year-old male is in custody after a stabbing that took place in Cranbrook on March 7.

Police were alerted to a male who had been dropped off at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital with serious stab wounds. Police worked throughout the weekend to identify a suspect and on Monday, March 10, he was arrested without incident.

The stabbing took place inside a vehicle and the victim was dropped off at the hospital at 2:52 p.m. on March 7.

Police are also investigating an assault that took place on March 7 at 11:30 a.m. behind the Sam Steele Hotel. The same two subjects were involved along with a third male.

The victim and suspect are known to each other and police would like reassure the public these are not a random acts.
