BC Senior Falls Prevention Awareness Week

Cranbrook Safe Communities and regional partners are pleased to host this area’s first B.C. Senior Falls Prevention Awareness Week initiative.

The number of deaths and hospitalizations from falls are significant. They are predictable, and they are preventable.

“The campaign was initially born around the Safe Communities leadership table. One of our mandates is Falls, and we realized with a quick survey around the table that even in our small group, we had lots of stories to tell, and ample testimony to the fact that falls really DO affect everyone,” says Laurie Harris, Safe Communties Cranbrook member and Coordinator of Cranbrook’s Better at Home program. “We decided to spread the news….to help us all understand where the risks are, what we can do to reduce them, and where to go for help and information.”
