City unveils ‘the Plan’Posted: March 6, 2013

Mayor Ron McRae

Message from the Mayor and Council

On behalf of City Council, I am proud to present the City of Kimberley Corporate Strategic Plan (Plan).

Although the city has always been guided by various plans, the need to develop a single plan that provides over-riding direction on both action and process was needed given the complexity of our operating environment today and the ever-increasing demand on the city’s limited resources.  The development of this Plan is part of a continuous improvement process.  It is contemplated that the process to fully develop all aspects of the Plan, as currently envisioned, will occur over a number of business cycles, and thereafter that it will continue to improve and evolve.

This Corporate Strategic Plan is meant to clearly document what council believes are the most important priorities to focus on in order to become the community desired by our citizenry.

The Plan is grounded with a focus on attaining community sustainability as envisioned in the community developed Integrated Community Sustainability Plan (ICSP).  Becoming a sustainable community is a goal the city can only achieve in partnership with its citizens and businesses and with the effective and efficient use of its assets (physical, human & financial). Explicit recognition of these criteria is reflected in this Plan by identifying Governance and Corporate Capacity as two “cornerstone” strategic priority areas that we must (always) continue to focus on and strengthen.

Kimberley is a tremendous community and I, along with the rest of Council and the City’s Management Team, am excited and honoured to be part of the Team that will lead the implementation of this Corporate Strategic Plan.
