The fire burning just northwest of Rosen Lake was caused by lightning and crews are making good progress this afternoon, reports Regional District of East Kootenay communications director Loree Duczek.

The fire is still estimated at 2.1 hectares. There is a four-person initial attack crew on the ground, a water tender and helicopter on scene, along with volunteers from the Jaffray Fire Department who are assisting. “They have lots of hose out and are making progress,” Duczek stated on the RDEK’s Facebook page.
