CRIA service to remain uninterrupted by planned BC Hydro outage Sept. 9

Kimberley area included in outage

Regular service at the Canadian Rockies International Airport (CRIA)will remain unaffected by the planned power outage scheduled by BC Hydro on Sunday September 9, which will occur between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m.

Last week BC Hydro began advising the public in radio and newspaper advertisements that the outage is required to safely complete improvement upgrades to the Marysville Substation. Customers scheduled to be affected are Kimberley, Kimberley Ski Hill, Meadowbrook, Marysville, Hwy 95A S to St. Mary River (Wycliffe-Mission, Fortierā€™s Corner, Pighin Rd, Clearview) and the areas surrounding, including the Canadian Rockies International Airport.

ā€œAirport operations will not be affected by the outage,ā€ said Tristen Chernove, Managing Director of the Canadian Rockies International Airport. ā€œThe airport is equipped with a backup generator capable of meeting the airportā€™s electrical requirements for an indefinite period. The outage should not have any impact on scheduled flights.ā€
