A lawsuit filed against the district by the Invermere Deer Protection Society, challenging the process undertaken by the municipality to conduct deer culls, was today (Oct. 25) concluded in BC Supreme Court in Vancouver in the district’s favour.

Invermere Mayor Gerry Taft stated on Facebook earlier today, “The lawsuit from Shane Suman and the Invermere Deer Protection Society was dismissed it it’s entirety. The BC Supreme Court judge has upheld the process Invermere and other communities have used around consultation on options to deal with urban deer. Hopefully this will prevent future frivolous lawsuits and legal posturing. The District of Invermere will be seeking court and legal costs from those who sued us.”
