Dogs shot dead in Elkford

The BC SPCA will be investigating a Friday night incident in Elkford in which two dogs were driven out of town and allegedly shot dead by a resident.

According to social media conversations (Facebook) and confirmed by the Elk Valley RCMP, two dogs were killed by a resident after they got into his fenced yard and attacked his chickens.

ā€œThere was an incident that occurred on Friday night, May 1 in Elkford. Although the RCMP responded to the original complaint, this incident is being handed over to the BC SPCA Special Investigation,ā€ confirmed Sgt. Will Thien, Operations NCO of the Elk Valley Regional RCMP Detachment.

Thien said further comment would be inappropriate as the BC SPCA begins its investigation, starting tomorrow, Tuesday, May 5.

ā€œIt is tragic and disturbing. I hope that everyone will try to remain calm and let the investigation take its course,ā€ heĀ stated.
