Driver confusion causes extensive damage
RCMP, BC Ambulance and Cranbrook Fire and Emergency Services attended the Save-On-Foods parking lot on Victoria Street North this morning after a vehicle struck a business and several parked vehicles.
An 86-year-old male initially struck the building, then backed up hitting five parked cars. The vehicle then exited the parking lot, came out onto Victoria Street and swung around back onto the sidewalk before coming to rest against a short retaining wall.
Police believe driver confusion was a factor in the collision and charges under the Motor Vehicle Act are pending. The driver, although not injured was checked by BC Ambulance.
