Elkford Council News
The following is a synopsis of what occurred during the February 22 District of Elkford council meeting.
Recruitment of Fernie Surgeon
In January, District of Elkford council approved in principle, funding towards recruitment of a surgeon for the Elk Valley Hospital in Fernie. As a follow up to that decision, council received an update on the details of the recruitment contract and discussed its conditions. Council approved an expense not to exceed $5,000 as the district’s share of the estimated recruitment fees.
Regional Community-to-Community Forum
The Regional District of East Kootenay and the Ktunaxa Nation will host a regional Community to Community Forum in Cranbrook. This forum was originally planned for November 2015 but due to unforeseen circumstances was postponed until March. Several council members will represent Elkford at the forum.
Bylaw
Council Procedure Amendment Bylaw No. 783, 2016 received its first three readings. This bylaw will add provisions for electronic participation in Committee of the Whole meetings.
