Fairmont boy approached, offered candy

Columbia Valley RCMP report that a Fairmont Hot Springs boy was recently approached by two strangers who offered him candy.

At 9 p.m. on Feb. 27, a 10-year-old boy, while playing in the 5000 block of River View Gate Road at Sun Chasers Villa in Fairmont Hot Springs, informed police that a late model red pickup, in poor condition, stopped; and two males walked towards the youth offering him candy.

“The young male took proper action and ran in the opposite direction,” reported S/Sgt. Marko Shehovac.

The vehicle left the area. The two males are described as follows; Medium build, dark complexion, white shirts, black pants, both had beards down to their chest. One male was wearing a red turban while the second male had a blue turban. S/Sgt. Shehovac said School District No. 6 was notified and will be sending out a message to all schools and surrounding districts.
