Fatal boating collision near Riondel

One man is dead following a night time boating accident on Kootenay Lake north of Creston.

On October 11, at approximately 9 p.m., Creston RCMP and Kaslo RCMP, with other emergency services, responded to a report that a boat had struck a rock while travelling on Kootenay Lake, near Riondel.

Four occupants were on board at the time of the collision. One of the occupants, a 30-year-old male from Fruitvale, succumbed to injuries on scene, while the other three remaining occupants were transported to a local area hospital.

The matter is still under investigations to determine the cause of the incident.
