Laurie Middle School will be closed to students and the public Thursday, Nov. 12 and Friday, Nov. 13 due to a fire early this morning (Nov. 11).

“The fire damage was limited to the exterior of the building. However, the sprinkler systems in the gym and home-ec hallway were activated resulting in significant amounts of water in those locations. Cleanup is underway and will continue for the next few days,” reported School District No. 5 school board trustee Patricia Whalen in a Facebook posted earlier this afternoon.

Classes will be back in session on Monday, November 16.
