Crews from the Windermere, Invermere and Panorama Fire Departments responded to a residential house fire in Lakeview Meadows Saturday.

Approximately 25 firefighters arrived on scene and spent five hours fighting the fire.

“This was a deep seated structure fire, so although the home was not fully engulfed in flames, there was substantial damage,” explained Columbia Valley Rural Fire and Rescue Service Fire Chief Jim Miller. There was no one home when the fire broke out and there were no injuries.

“The crew did a great job containing the fire and preventing it from spreading to nearby residences,” added Miller.  Firefighters remained on the scene throughout the day mopping up and dealing with hot spots.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
