Grants available for female entrepreneurs

Deadline March 10

Teck Resources and the Forum for Women Entrepreneurs (FEW) have announced they are offering grants of $2,500 to women entrepreneurs across British Columbia who are seeking mentorship and support to grow their businesses.

The grant will go towards travel and tuition for FWE’s four-day ESeries program in Vancouver, which connects emerging entrepreneurs with successful veterans to gain insight into growth plans, marketing, HR, sales, culture and other challenges that arise while growing a viable business.

Inspired by MIT’s Birthing of Giants program, the ESeries has been referred to as a “mini MBA” for emerging entrepreneurs and has been attended by notable women such as Judy Brooks, co-founder of Blo Dry Bar, and Caterina Fake, founder of Flickr. This year’s mentors will include representatives from KalTire, WestJet, Nature’s Path, Quails Gate and more.

More details on ESeries

·Eseries is FWE’s longest running signature program, with 2014 marking the first year of a focused four-day learning experience.

·89% of all companies who have participated in ESeries are still in business, compared to a national average of 50%

· The average annualized revenue growth per participating company is over 40%

· Past speakers have included Terry McBride with YYoga, John DeHart with Nurse Next Dorr, Sarah Bancroft with Vitamin Daily and Don Mattrick with Electronic Arts.

There is a particular interest in having women from areas such as the Kootenays attend this year as Teck Resources has noted many viable business opportunities for emerging female entrepreneurs.

The program runs from April 8-11 and application dates for the grant must be in before Monday, March 10.
