Home invasion shooting investigation continues

A Feb. 4 home invasion in Cranbrook, during which a 35-year-old male was shot and hospitalized, remains under investigation by Cranbrook RCMP. However, Detachment Commander S/Sgt. Hector Lee says he expects an update later this week.

rcmp logo glossyCranbrook RCMP were kept busy over the past eight days, Lee noted in a brief media report, noting detachment officers handled 123 calls for service between Feb. 1 and 8.

Of those calls, three were regarding assault complaints, with one person arrested and charged. There were no significant injuries in the assaults and all were family related.

Officers performed five drug seizures include two files where charges are being recommended (four for cannabis and one for cocaine).

Two Immediate Roadside Prohibitions (IRPs) were handled, along with one 24-hour roadside suspension for impaired driving.

Police attended to seven motor vehicle incidents, with three hit and runs leading to Motor Vehicle Act charges. There were no injuries in four other MVIs.

Police also attended to 12 Mental Health Act calls, with eight people taken to hospital.
