A special hike is planned August 15 to celebrate the Jumbo Valley and efforts to keep it free of Jumbo Glacier Resort.

Wildsight is spearheading a Jumbo Wild celebration of supporters from the East and West Kootenay, with a rendezvous in Jumbo Pass to “share the joy of success after 20 plus years of steadfast support for Jumbo Wild.  We have done it! You have done it. There’s still plenty of cleanup to be done, but now it’s time to pause and revel in the glow of a job well done,” an event invitation states.

Participants are asked to meet at 9 a.m. at Kicking Horse Coffee in Invermere. They will carpool into the upper Jumbo and meet-up with West Kootenay hikers in the pass.

“Please let us know where you’ll be coming from and we’ll put you in touch with others to facilitate carpooling,” organizers added.

It should be noted that Jumbo Pass is not included in the resort development plans.
