Ken Bridge bestowed Citizen of the Year

Cranbrook and District Chamber of Commerce formally bestowed Ken Bridge as Citizen of the Year Friday, Jan. 24 during a special dinner at the Heritage Inn.

The Bridge Interiors owner – of the “125 Slater Road, Cranbrook” fame, was named as Citizen of the Year by the chamber Dec. 11 during a packed Christmas luncheon at the Heritage Inn.

Friday night, he and wife Karin were front and centre as about 200 chamber members, friends and family took part in a celebration of the 2013 Citizen of the Year.

A number of guest speakers shared hilarious and heartfelt stories about Bridge, highlighting his noted good humour and boundless sense of giving to his community.

Loree Duczek, Derek Kortchega and D’arcy Kennedy served as evening emcees.

Bridge said the honour given to him by the chamber is one that is shared.

“I’d like to thank Karin for putting up with me for all these years and all the dumb stuff I do. She is the best business partner anyone could hope for. My family; Kerry, Dean, Oma, Brenda, Carline, Lance, Petra, Stacey, Mandy and Joel, I work with the best team. Without them, there would be no Bridge Interiors. And most of all I would like to thank all the people who support us; they are the only reason our team can give back to the community. On behalf of these people, I will accept our award,” he said.
