KO students raise $2,208 to help Nepal

On April 25, a terrible earthquake hit Nepal. Students in Mrs. Halldorson’s Grade 5/6 class decided that they would like to start a school-wide fundraiser to help the children affected by the earthquake.

After seven days of fundraising, the students of Kootenay Orchards Elementary School raised $1,104. Their donation will be matched by the Canadian Government. A grand total of $2,208 will be donated to the Canadian Red Cross.

Mrs. Halldorson’s class was the overall top fundraising class with over $280. All students enjoyed an obstacle course that involved Mr. Aston competing against Mrs. Halldorson (top intermediate fundraising class teacher) and Mrs. Bedell (top primary fundraising class teacher) on May 12.
