Legion out in force again; seeking support

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 24 Cranbrook will once again be asking for the public to support our Veterans by sponsoring a wreath or purchasing poppies during our annual Poppy Campaign.

The Legion volunteers will be canvassing businesses commencing October 21 to sponsor a wreath.  If you have not been contacted by October 24 and wish to sponsor a wreath would you contact the Legion at 250-426-0533 and a volunteer will get back to you.

poppyPoppy boxes will be distributed to businesses beginning the week of October 27, with poppies going on sale starting Friday, October 31,.

The Cranbrook Army and Air Cadets will be at various businesses on Friday, October 31 and Saturday, November 1, and again on Friday, November 7 and Saturday, November 8, selling poppies.  Veterans and volunteers will also be at various businesses throughout this campaign selling poppies.

The Kimberley Air Cadets will also be out at various businesses in Kimberley selling poppies. Businesses in Kimberley wishing to sponsor a wreath should contact the Legion Poppy Office at 250-489-6745

The Legion Parade will form up in front of the Byng Hotel on Tuesday November 11, at 10:15 a.m. and march to Rotary Park for the Remembrance Day ceremonies.

Please plan on attending this year’s ceremonies as well as attending the Legion after the Parade and service at the Cenotaph.
