Local aid package being assembled for Fort McMurray

Cranbrook and area-based Pattison Broadcast Group radio stations B-104 Total Country/The Drive has announced that a local humanitarian aid package is being assembled to send to Fort McMurray later this evening.

Integra returnsIf you want to help those affected by the wildfire in Fort McMurray, a plane will be leaving Cranbrook Wednesday night with humanitarian aid.

Specific items being sought include diapers, wipes, toiletries, cardboard boxes, socks, underwear, baby formula, pillows, and tote bags to pack the supplies. Cash and gift cards are being accepted as well. No water please, as the plane can only carry so much weight. New items only please.

Integra Airā€™s Kaitlyn Bumstead says they are bringing supplies up for Alberta Forestry and then the aircraft will land at Canadian Rockies International Airport, B-104 reported on Facebook.

Bumstead said Integra AirĀ has had a lot of interest from the Cranbrook area to help out.

B104 truckIf you want to make a contributionĀ The Drive and B104Ā will have trucks set up at the Cranbrook Public Library this afternoon (May 4). Please drop off items in the back of The Drive/B-104 truck.

The wildfire attacking Fort McMurray has resulted in the largest evacuation in Alberta history ā€“surpassing the Slave Lake fire that made international headlines five years ago. More than 60,000 people have been ordered to evacuate the city.
