Marysville rink misses out as Kraft Hockeyville finalist

The City of Kimberley would like to relay that the Marysville Arena is not one of the four finalists for Kraft Hockeyville. The announcement was revealed during second intermission of the Calgary Flames at Phoenix Coyotes NHL game on CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada.

Salmon Arm and Sylvan Lake, Alta. are the two finalists for the West Bracket and Kingston, Ont. and Bedeque, PEI are the two finalists for the East Bracket.

As with the first round of finalists, in which there were eight each from the west and east, the two final winners will be decided by an online and phone competition.

One winner from the east and one from the west will receive a $100,000 in upgrades for their arena.  Then Kraft Hockeyville will have one more competition to determine a Grand Prize winner in which one will host a 2014-2015 NHL pre-season game and a visit from CBC television.

The bottom two in the east and west brackets will receive $50,000 in arena upgrades and the 12 (six each from the west and east) that didn’t make this latest round, including Marysville Arena, are all receiving $25,000 in prizes.

“We are proud to have made the top 16 in the 2014 Kraft Hockeyville competition and look forward to receiving the prize for the Marysville Arena,” said Mayor Ron McRae.  “Thank you to everyone who voted.”
