Mediator appointed by Labour Relations Board: BCGEU

The Labour Relations Board (LRB) today (April 7) appointed mediator Trevor Sones to work on bringing the BC Government Employees’ Union (BCGEU) and St. Eugene Resort & Casino back to the bargaining table with the goal of reaching a tentative agreement.

BCGEU2“This appointment comes with an order that means St. Eugene Golf Resort & Casino cannot lock you out later today. It will be business as usual at your worksite,” noted an April 7 BCGEU notice on its website.

“Our application to the LRB for mediation was part of our promise to do everything in our power to get you a fair and reasonable settlement. We’re now working toward setting bargaining dates with the mediator present. In the meantime, we ask that you not buy into the rumours floating around your worksite. We know many are false. We urge you to go to one of your bargaining committee members with your concerns and questions,” the notice continues.

“We understand this is a stressful period. The BCGEU is working hard to protect you and your rights and we will keep you informed every step of the way as things progress. Thank you for your support,” concluded the notice signed by Bargaining Committee members Lindsey Hamilton,
 Linda Lera and
Leslie Weaver, along with Gary Bennett, Staff Representative – Negotiations.
