The miracle of giving back

A $15,000 gift to East Kootenay Foundation for Health’s (EKFH) Starlite Campaign is the latest donation to light stars atop the regional hospital.

What makes this particular gift extra special is that it comes from a very grateful heart and one that wants to give back to the very team that reinforces its commitment to the best in patient care each and every day in surgical care.

The gift is succinct in its intent and is to be utilized to assist in funding clinical skills development for nurses who work in surgical care in the East Kootenay.

Earlier this year two registered nurses were able to attend the 27th Interventional Course on Therapeutic Endoscopy in Toronto.  The three-day high intensity course focused on live demonstrations by experts performing a wide variety of endoscopic techniques.  Real time video transmissions from the state-of-the-art Endoscopy Unit at St. Michael’s Hospital and talks focused on practical issues.  Upon return to Cranbrook the feedback from the attending nurses and put into practice results from the training have been nothing but beneficial to the surgical teams at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital.

With such a positive impact and result created from that development training opportunity the miracle of giving back began.  You see, the miracle in a gift to health care takes many shapes.  This is a gift of thanks, an acknowledgement of the talent within and surrounding the team and a desire to give back so that others can explore, learn and lead.

Your support of the Starlite Campaign helps light a path for others.  Please consider a gift to health care this holiday season, visit www.ekfh.ca.
